After four and a half exciting and successful years, The Atelier at Castle Rock closed its doors in October 2106 to allow Diane more time with her own painting and to be closer to family. Diane is most grateful for the warm reception by the Colorado arts community and its entusiastic support of The Atelier's programs.
The text below is for background information only. Diane now works in a private studio and continues to teach in workshop formats across the United States and abroad. 2017 workshops and demos will be held in Grapevine TX, Philadelphia PA, Albuquerque NM, and various locations in Australia. For workshop schedules or to inquire about bringing a workshop to your own arts community, please contact Diane directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Atelier at Castle Rock is a vibrant working art studio, teaching space and gallery. It is the primary creation and teaching environment of professional artist and instructor Diane Rappisi. To go directly to The Atelier at Castle Rock's web site, click here: www.ateliercastlerock.com.
Beginning in 2012, The Atelier at Castle Rock offers weekly art classes for teens and adults, providing a wonderful opportunity for the serious artist to receive consistent, individualized instruction in a professional environment on an ongoing basis.
The Atelier at Castle Rock’s program of study is designed to provide artists of all levels of ability with a strong foundation for figure, still life or landscapes. Working from life, critical skills and processes are developed to help the artist understand exactly what they are seeing in order to most effectively communicate to the viewer.
Classes are organized into four- to eight-week sessions, with initial sessions focusing on gesture, proportion, and form-building through the use of shape and value. Each quarterly session improves and refines skills learned in prior lessons, using progressively longer poses. Subsequent sessions progress to color studies and extended poses, with the ultimate goal being the development of each artist’s personal style using the medium of their choice.
In keeping with The Atelier's vision of providing the highest quality instruction opportunities to the greater Denver area, a new Visiting Artist program was launched in early 2013 with a sold-out Advanced Landscape Composition workshop offered by Lorenzo Chavez. Subsequent workshops featured nationally-known artists such as ARC Living Master Dan Thompson, Stephen Early and Natalie Italiano; new workshops will be added to the schedule throughout the year.
